Project overview

Roland and Jason's project of building Culworth Farmhouse back in 2010 was a remarkable achievement. The farmhouse was built with 95% reclaimed stone, showcasing their commitment to sustainable construction practices. What truly sets this project apart is the craftsmanship involved in the building process. Each stone was carefully selected and placed to create a unique and stunning home that stands out from the rest.

The use of reclaimed stone not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of the farmhouse but also serves an important environmental purpose. By using materials that have already been extracted from the earth, less energy is expended in the production process and fewer resources are consumed. This is a great example of how we can incorporate sustainability into our daily lives and make a positive impact on the environment.

Overall, Roland and Jason's project of building Culworth Farmhouse is a testament to the value of true craftsmanship and sustainable construction practices. It stands as a beautiful and sustainable example of how we can build structures that are not only functional but also environmentally responsible.

Features

When in 2009 we chose to build our new house at Culworth House Farm we were lucky enough to choose for the job a small firm where Roland Hibberd, founder with Jason of Feldon Builders, was the key employee and effectively he ( with help from his brother and a couple of other skilled guys ) built, to a very high specification, the house in the photograph below. Since its completion and the subsequent founding of Feldon, Roland and Jason have carried out several works to the immediate surrounds of the house, all to a high standard, and some small repairs. Currently they are repainting the high-quality hard wood external windows and frames which involves removing the windows and spraying them in their portable spray booth in our barn , resulting in an even better finish than the original.

Although the house was nominally built by a firm in which Roland was not a principal Feldon has readily taken on ownership of subsequent works and repairs. No request is too much trouble, and all work is carried out to the same standards as the original build.

Feldon is a pleasure to work with and we can only repeat how lucky we feel to have fortuitously met Roland and Jason back in 2009!
